Congratulations to the cast of The Little Mermaid Jr.!  Thank you to everyone who auditioned for the show.  Casting this production was especially difficult, which is a testament to your preparedness, professionalism and talent. Though the audition process is stressful, it also is a tremendous learning opportunity, a chance for actors to reflect on their performance and build this incredibly important skillset. We are incredibly proud of all of the students who took a chance in the auditions by putting themselves out there. Please look for other updates to come from Mr. Hartwig regarding the understudy performance, and what songs the ensemble is in etc..

Our first rehearsal is on Monday, September 14th from 3:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the Band Room.

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! My name is Ben Hartwig, and I am honored to be your new Middle School Theatre Director. New Albany has a wonderful reputation for talented young performers, and I am excited to work with your students.

On a personal note, my family and I live in Sunbury. My wife and I have two children, and we both work for Dublin City Schools. As an educator family, I know how important balancing school, family, and activities is. I bring that deep respect for your time and commitment into our theatre department. I have been deeply involved in music since the age of eight, beginning with the Cincinnati Boychoir and continuing through my high school's show choir and theater all four years. Since moving to Columbus, I have worked on over 50 shows, and I look forward to bringing that lifelong artistic passion to our productions. I have worked with such companies at CATCO, Weathervane Playhouse, Actors Theatre, Evolution Theatre Company and Abbey Theatre of Dublin as an actor, just to name a few. I am a proud member of Actors Equity Association (AEA). 

My goal this year is to maintain high artistic standards while ensuring a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment where your students can build confidence and collaborative skills
